With more than 150 miles (250km) of unspoilt and often rugged coastline - and a maritime history that is both diverse and intriguing - you are sure to find an activity to suit your aquatic aspirations.
Yachting, canoeing, swimming, scuba diving, surfing and water-skiing are just a small selection of the water sports available in the area.

There's water skiing on fresh water (Loch of Aboyne) or salt. Yachting facilities are well developed in Banff, Findhorn and Peterhead. Stonehaven Bay provides safe sea canoeing.

If big waves are your thing why not visit Fraserburgh - locally known as the 'Broch.' Fraserburgh has in the past played host to rounds of the Scottish Wavesailing Championships and a moving sand bar can provide some classic waves, staying clean even at low tide.
