Leonard, as well as others in the family, went on to apply for and obtain US Citizenship. Today, Leonard's half-brother Edward William and half-sister Ada are alive and living in the USA. Leonard was fortunate to have a family of his own as well; he fathered a total of 5 children, 4 are still living and currently reside in western Massachusetts.

With Joyce's help, I was able to document the Horne's family history back to the mid 1750's - and I have lots of Old Parish Records (OPRs) and census forms that prove that the research was legitimate. Joyce also helped in researching other family surnames that were connected to the Hornes. With each bit of research that she did she provided a detailed report, which she emailed and mailed to me. If I requested a copy of a census form or OPR, she included that as well. The additional expenses for the hard copies were small, and well worth the money, particularly as the research time of the ANESFHS volunteers is donated. This was a huge benefit.

I would strongly recommend to anyone whose family came from the Northeast Region of Scotland that they contact the ANESFHS and have them assist in their research. You will not be disappointed.

As a result of the research, and everything we have discovered about the family, there has been much discussion amongst Leonard's children of making a trip to the Aberdeen area, to see where their ancestors grew up and emigrated from. And of course a visit to the ANESFHS will also be part of their itinerary! <<back
