The Castle Trail

FYVIE CASTLE

The five towers of Fyvie Castle enshrine five centuries of Scottish history, each being named after the five families who owned the castle. The oldest part dates from the 13th century and is probably the grandest example of Scottish Baronial architecture.

Apart from the great wheel-stair, the fines tin Scotland, there is an exceptionally important collection of portraits, arms and armour and 16th century tapestries.

Also ten-pin bowling alley, raquets court and ice house. The grounds and Fyvie Loch were designed as a landscaped parkland around the beginning of the 18th century. Tearoom, lochside walk, picnic area, car park.

Open 1 April – 30 June and 1 – 30 September Friday – Tuesday 1200 – 1700, 1 July – 31 August daily 1100 – 1700.
